Kimberly & Gregory

“The easiest thing about planning a wedding in Newport is that there are so many talented vendors that truly make your day a dream come true. We were so lucky to work with our team and they made our day seamless, flawless, gorgeous and helped create my vision far more beautifully than I ever imagined.”

Kimberly Bixby and Gregory Meehan on August 12, 2017.

When Portsmouth native, Kimberly Bixby, and her boyfriend, Gregory Meehan of Norfolk, MA were heading to Third Beach in Middletown, she had no idea how many surprises were in store. He first gifted her with a necklace engraved with “K + G” along with the coordinates of Third Beach. They then headed to Castle Hill in Newport, where he had decorated the surrounding area with flowers, their favorite wine, and notes from her niece and nephew depicting their love. When Greg popped the question, Kim was so excited she got down on one knee with him! Following the proposal, they checked in to the Newport Marriott, where there was a hint leading to her father’s boat at the Newport Yacht Club decked out with congratulations flags. The surprises didn’t stop here. After sailing with her parents, they headed to The Landing for dinner, where they were greeted by 50 of their closest friends and family members for an engagement party. – RT

Chip off the Block

Kim and Greg met at the University of New Hampshire, just like her parents who have been happily married for 35 years. They lived in the same dorms and first met when Kim came home from her brother’s fraternity, where Greg is a member, and she asked him for help with laundry. He then made any excuse he could to help with laundry, just to see her. Kim says she didn’t want to be engaged in grad school, so Greg patiently waited until four days after her graduation.

On the Same Page

Unknowingly, Greg and Kim had both booked the wedding venue, the Glen Manor House, before they even were engaged. They knew the Glen books far in advance, and they wanted a summer date. After Greg proposed, he said, “There’s already a date booked!” Kim was shocked, thinking he somehow knew that she had already booked it. Apparently, he knew how much she wanted to be married at the historic Sakonnet River-side chateau in Portsmouth, and asked her mom to coordinate.

It’s Personal

From hand-painted sand dollars and written notes at each guest’s seat explaining their appreciation and favorite memories, to table numbers that corresponded with a nautical chart of Newport with funny stories and facts about the couple, everything was personalized here. They even gave out stamped Newport postcards requesting love advice or wedding day memories to be sent to them after the big day.

Where are they now?

After a honeymoon in Tahiti, where they swam with whales, dolphins and sharks, the couple returned to Portsmouth where Kim is a nurse practitioner and Greg is a national bank examiner.
