Although Heather Mortimer and Patrick Bane of Haverhill, Mass grew up in the same home town, it wasn’t until a trip home from college for Heather that they finally had the chance to hit it off. Once they did, they fell hard. Heather distinctly remembers a moment from early on in their dating, when Patrick confessed his feelings for her: “Can you feel how fast my heart is beating? I’m falling in love with you.” From the start, Patrick has made it clear how much he adores her, and through all of their ups and downs, she knew he was the one. The couple agrees there was something in the air the night of their wedding, and it wasn’t the thunderstorms that were predicted. A miraculous moment took place when the clouds cleared and the sun shone through, just in time for their stunning, ocean-front celebration.

Celebratory Surprise

Patrick’s elaborate proposal began as soon as Heather finished grad school. He promised they would take a trip as a celebration but wouldn’t tell her where! Little did Heather know that they were checking into the Hyatt, and that when they were strolling past the Newport Harbor Lighthouse, he would be getting down on one knee to pop the question.

Opposites Attract

Heather and Patrick are opposites in many ways, and their first dance song reflected that perfectly. Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” includes the line, “People fall in love in mysterious ways,” which the couple often finds themselves relating to.

Dreams Come True

The bride’s family used to vacation in Newport each summer and as a little girl it became her dream to one day have her wedding in the City by the Sea. This idea became reality at OceanCliff, which offered everything on the couple’s checklist: old Newport elegance, an intimate reception room, and gorgeous views.

Where Are They Now

The couple relished in paradise on their 12-day tour of Italy and Greece. Upon their return, they settled back down in Haverhill, Mass where Patrick works at National Grid and Heather is a nurse at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
