“We could not imagine leaving our home and favorite place in the world to celebrate our wedding. Newport was a no brainer!”

Portsmouth natives Julie Kielbasa and Evan Rose didn’t have to go far to find true love. In fact, it was right there in front of them their whole lives! “Evan and I grew up together down the street and our families were friends,” says the bride. “Evan asked me out on a date following a night at the West Deck and the rest is history.” For their engagement, Evan kept their families in mind when he invited them to a surprise champagne celebration after Julie accepted his proposal while on a picnic at Fort Adams. Their beloved dog Brody joined the festivities donning a sign that read “Mama Said Yes!” –TS

A memorable venue

Since Evan is a graduate of Salve Regina University, the school’s stunning Ochre Court was a match made in heaven. “Upon approaching the front of the building, passing through the storied iron gates and becoming taken aback by the exterior of the building alone, we were sold!”

A rose is a rose

In celebration of her betrothed’s family name, the bride made roses the central part of her classic theme. Hundreds of petals blanketed the aisle while overflowing urns flanked the altar. Fresh roses adorned the simple vanilla butter cream frosted cake as well as the table. And the wine? Rosé, of course!

Let them eat cupcakes

While the couple served every crumb of their delicious two-tiered cake, they also treated their guests to a dessert room filled with a variety of cupcakes including vanilla, chocolate, red velvet and strawberry. So everyone could join in the tasty fun, they also offered gluten free confections.

Where Are they now

After a honeymoon in the Bahamas, the couple returned to their Portsmouth home where Julie is a hair and makeup artist at Frank Antonio Hair & Makeup and Evan is a branch officer at Bank Newport.
