Jana & Trevor
“We decided to get married in Newport because we spent many summers vacationing as a couple. And since I [also] spent many summers here as a little girl, it holds a very special place in my heart.”

Trevor Mierta waited for the calm after the storm to propose to his bride-to-be Jana Wachenfeld. The New Jersey natives met during a round of darts at a mutual friend’s party, and have been together ever since. In July of 2014 the two journeyed to Portsmouth for an Independence Day barbeque where Trevor planned to propose. However, Hurricane Arthur’s torrential rain and wind postponed the special moment until the following day. Trevor suggested a walk on the beach with the dogs to collect seashells and sea glass. As Jana reached the end of the beach she turned to begin the walk back, but Trevor had produced a special silver scallop shell, lined with pink satin and displaying an engagement ring. Jana recalls the moment, “He finally asked me to marry him. With tears in our eyes and the dogs barking around us, I told him yes, of course!” –SK
Working with the Weather
The big day began with pouring rain. The bride collected a bit of the rain as a sentimental keepsake. With luck on their side, the pair was able to enjoy a warm and sunny ceremony. An ultimate attention-grabber was the spectacularly colored sunset that wowed guests and employees alike. Trevor and Jana agreed that angels had congratulated them and wished them a happy marriage with the stunning end to the day.

A mirrored gold Mr. & Mrs. topped the cake while the couples’ names and wedding date were projected on the ceiling. Lighting was also a central feature with an amber glow for dinner service and a pink atmosphere for dancing. Fun photo booth frames, which doubled as escort cards, were a big hit with the guests.
La Vie en Rose
“I wanted everything to be elegant, sparkling, soft and vintage romantic,” says the bride. “I didn’t have a theme per say, but in the end everyone kept saying it was a fairytale wedding.” The bride’s bouquet included pink peonies, roses, and ranunculus, while the bridesmaids wore petal pink chiffon gowns. The groom’s gray suit was detailed with a soft pink rose boutonniere and the groomsmen sported pink ties.
Where Are They Now
After an intimate retreat at Jana’s Uncle’s cottage in Portsmouth with their daughter Elizabella, the couple began plans for a future grand honeymoon. For now they continue their blissful life together at their Pennington, New Jersey home where Trevor is a construction manager and Jana cares for little Elizabella.
