Sean Stalls fondly recalls meeting Chase Neal as she applied for a position at the South Carolina restaurant where he worked; a place that would become the scene of their blossoming romance. Initially, Sean was captivated by her allure: “I immediately couldn’t stop looking at how beautiful she was,” he says, and as time moved on, they began a courtship that moved them back to Chase’s hometown of Newport. Nearly three years after her job interview, Sean proposed at Castle Hill Inn, putting into action their plan for a nautical-themed wedding.

Their nuptials would embody the City-by-the-Sea’s innate charm. “Chase always wanted the Newport wedding experience and after spending the last two years [living here] I couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else,” says Sean. Important to them was making sure their affair was on the water.

As a rain shower threatened to dampen Chase and Sean’s festivities, it would prove to be among the more memorable moments of their celebratory weekend. With their rehearsal dinner initially scheduled on the deck of the Nantucket Lightship, which was docked at @ The Deck where their tented reception would soon follow, the party was moved below, “which is absolutely beautiful,” remembers Sean.

After the ceremony concluded at Kay Chapel, 115 guests arrived for an evening of delicious food and nonstop entertainment. Blue hydrangeas adorned the tables, and starfish, sand dollars and sea glass provided the perfect accents.

As the evening concluded, one thing was sure to stand the test of time – their commitment to one another. “I am lucky enough to marry my best friend and the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met,” says Sean. The couple set off to New Hampshire before returning to Newport, where they welcomed their first son in June.
