Three Tips for Picking Your Dream Dress

Now that you’re finished posting your “I said YES!” shots on social media, it’s time for the really fun part. Choosing the dress! But walking into a store with enough tulle to wrap around the world twice can be overwhelming even for the calmest bride. With so many different styles, fabrics and designers, the choices are endless. To help you narrow down your search, use these “Three P’s” to help you find the ultimate dress: Princess, Perfection and Price.
Do you feel like a princess?
Just like you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince, so will you have to try on a lot of dresses to find “The One.” Occasionally, a bride chooses the very first confection she tries, but she is a unicorn in the bridal world. All brides with a dress in hand have the same thing in common—they feel beautiful. Just like a princess. So, when you try on a dress, ask yourself, “Do I feel like a million dollars or like a child playing dress up?” If it’s the latter, then move on, sister.
Your wedding is the day when you can make your fairytale dreams come true–you found your soul mate, so you’ll find the perfect dress. But perfection doesn’t usually come with the wave of a godmother’s magical wand. You will more than likely be zipping, buttoning and swishing for several hours before your heart skips a beat when you catch a glimpse of yourself in the floor-length mirror. And it’ll be exactly what you want. Perfection. And if you happen to have the almost perfect dress, bridal shops can even help you make alterations to create your one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Price does matter, and so does your happily ever after.
It can be hard to spend a good deal of money on a gown you will wear once, but it is also the best thing to be in the prettiest dress you’ve ever seen on the arm of your favorite person in the world. Keep that smile from turning upside down by planning. Before stepping a toe into a store, have an idea of the styles you’d like to try as well as a set budget. Don’t stress and obsess about what you can’t afford. Instead, pour over the dresses that are just right and celebrate when you find the perfect one for the right price that makes you feel like a princess.
Above all, don’t base your choice solely on the opinions of others. Listen to your heart instead. You’re the one who will be wearing the dress after all! No matter what style you decide one, what’s most important is that you feel gorgeous on your very special day.
