They met in nursery school – he pulled her pigtails, she hid his lunch box. Now, after reuniting 26 years later while working at a local catering company, Bridget Byron and Chris Pigott are trading more than sandbox stories. Exchanging vows at Newport’s famed St. Mary’s Church, where Jacqueline Bouvier wed John Kennedy in 1953, they headed to another presidential property to start celebrating their lifetime of memories. The Eisenhower House, the summer White House for Dwight D. Eisenhower during his presidency, was the perfect waterfront location. With views of Narragansett Bay and the Newport Bridge, “We both knew there wasn’t a more romantic and beautiful location,” Bridget says.

She glowed in a one-shoulder silk organza Carolina Herrera gown, ruched with a vintage brooch. “I knew it was the one when I didn’t want to take it off!” Bridget says. As catering manger for a Boston hotel, and a long-time server with Blackstone Caterers in the Newport area, Bridget also knew food would be the lynchpin for her wedding. Chris also worked at Blackstone, so the company spared no cost in showing the newlyweds a great night of food and drink. As the sun set, the 210 guests feasted on raw bar, pan seared local bass with mango fruit salsa and herb roasted filet mignon. After signature dark and stormy cocktails and hundreds of cupcakes for dessert, “We treated our friends and family to a sausage cart straight from the streets of Fenway Park,” says Bridget. “Grilled sausages with peppers and onions as a midnight snack before everyone departed.”

After a quick mini-moon to Martha’s Vineyard, the born and raised Newport couple returned to Boston, and are planning a Thailand honeymoon for the fall.
